This clean energy concept is based on the principle of the relationship between temperature and the amount of heat that can be stored within a reservoir or underground. In order for a geothermal power plant to generate electricity, there must be a continuous supply of magma for it to absorb below its feet. The source of magma can be found beneath the earth’s surface, but it can also be found in the pockets and crevices where cold underground water freezes. Magma contains melt water, which is basically the frozen energy that is used to heat up the turbine. This is how geothermal energy plants extract energy from the ground; through the freezing of ground water and through the heating of magma.
